Sue Weiler-Doke

SUE WEILER-DOKE earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from College of Saint Mary (Omaha, Nebraska), and accepted her first position in the construction industry as a field Business Manager with Kiewit Corporation (Northwest District), one of the largest contractors in the world. During her impressive 31-year span with Kiewit, Sue advanced quickly, being promoted first to District Business Manager (Northern California District), then to Division Business Manager, and then to Business Director (Kiewit Infrastructure West Co.).

In 2016, Sue made the tough decision to retire from Kiewit, and for the next year, chose to explore an exciting opportunity with the Associated General Contractors of California as the Director of Industrial Relations for Northern California. There, she was able to bring her extensive experience and skills to the table, assisting with labor and management advocacy, contract interpretation, member engagement and communication, and trust fund governance.

A firm believer in the philosophy to never stop learning, Sue has served on the Board of Directors for College of Saint Mary since 2012, including being an active member of their Budget and Finance subcommittee. Sue has also continued her education by working toward and receiving a certificate and advanced certificate in Human Resources Management from California State Hayward, as well as earning her master’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology from Grand Canyon University.

Throughout her career, Sue has worn many different hats in her service to industry committees, including being a member and co-chair of the Joint Apprenticeship Committee for the Operating Engineers Local 3 in Northern California, member of the Board of Directors for the Northern California United Brotherhood of Laborers Training Trust, and member of the Board of Directors for the Northern California Teamsters Apprentice Training and Education Trust Fund. For the first two, she also actively served on their Budget and Finance subcommittees.

In addition, Sue is a certified Gallup Strengths coach, a member of Women Construction Owners & Executives (WCOE), and a committee member of the International Foundation for Employee Benefits Plan (IFEB) Apprenticeship Training and Education Committee. As a Gallup Strengths coach, Sue provides strengths-based coaching to individuals, teams, and managers, focusing on processes and solutions for improving management effectiveness, team dynamics and performance, conflict resolution, and leadership development.

In her current role of Senior Consultant for D. Brown Management, Sue draws from her vast experience in the construction industry, her understanding of the deep needs of contractors, and her expertise in talent management to teach organizations strategies and initiatives for optimal growth, team building, performance, communication, and profit opportunities.
