In this project delivery method, the Architect and CM+GC, along with key consulting engineers and key specialty contractors, are all bound by the same contract with the owner.

This is known broadly as an Integrated Form of Agreement (IFOA) and includes a target cost for the project as well as defining reimbursable costs, set markups for indirect costs, Overhead and Profit (OH&P).
There is usually a sharing component for cost savings with OH&P reimbursement being capped to keep everyone aligned. See the AIA IPD Family of Docs.
Many IPD projects utilize lean construction methods, including the Last Planner.
IPD an Action Guide for Leaders was put together as a collaboration. The most challenging aspect of an integrated delivery method is cultural alignment, which requires a foundation of deep trust and teamwork between all parties.
